Batik tulis is drawn by hand, one canting stroke at a time, so every length of cloth leaves the workshop unique. We buy straight from the craft centres in Java and Madura and record where each piece came from and how it was made.

Tulis, cap, or a mix of both, said plainly on every listing. Printed cloth with a batik motif is not batik and we do not call it that.
